(Continued from Session 011)
We spent the night at Samantha's house, with the newfound goal of finding Samantha's friend, Tonya, in the administrative district of Jallabard.
After some last minute planning, we decided to ask Samantha for two mules, a cart, and some sacks of grain. The plan is for Orla and I (Morro) to hide in the cart under sacks of grain, and Kiiv will walk behind the cart, with a rope seemingly securing him to the cart, and wearing his fake shackles. Whipp, Kestyn, Gulden, and Enna will wear stolen soldier uniforms.
We left after eating a hearty breakfast, and taking some "to go" provisions.
After lunch, we encountered parties of 6 and 10 soldiers respectively. Fortunately, Whipp was able to pose as a soldier and avoid any conflict.
We made camp, and nothing unusual happened overnight.
Once Jalabard was visible, we decided that Orla would cast invisibility on Kiiv to avoid the Barstonian army from taking him off our hands. This proved to be a good decision, as there were prisoners bound in front of the city's gate.
We entered the city. Whipp talked to a few guards on the way in. Eventually, we made our way to Tonya's work building. Gulden entered the building and met Tonya. After removing all his clothes, he convinced her that he was sent by Samantha, and explained their situation and goals. Tonya told him to go to her house, where his husband should be, and she will meet him after work.
The party arrived at Tonya's house, and her husband was surprised but hospitable. At the advice of Tonya's husband, Kestyn parks the cart, which is loaded with grain, at a friend of Tonya's husband. Kiiv's invisibility wore off, surprising Tonya's husband.
Tonya finally arrived, and the party told her about the state of the country, which she was largely not aware of. She said she is sympathetic and will keep her ears open, but probably won't act on her own. The party gives her the signet ring from Samantha for authenticating communication.
The party slept at Tonya's house, but Kestyn got up in the middle of the night and attempted to sneak out to surveil the monastary. He woke up Gulden, who accompanied him to stop him from doing anything stupid. Kestyn also decided to regrow his hair, and was constantly rubbing his scalp.
They found a taco vendor outside of the monastary that Kestyn had frequently visited when he lived at the monastary. The vendor recognized Kestyn, and gave him additional intel on the monastery attack. He said that some of the monks surrendered, and others fled. He thought that the surrendered monks were taken to North Barston.
Upon return, Kestyn woke the rest of the party, and explained what he and Gulden had learned.
We decided to rest a full day before heading out for new adventures.
We woke and decided to revisit the tunnels. We left in the same manner, and Gulden cast invisibility on Kiiv. We left Jalabard without incident, and I (Morro) led the party towards the tunnel entrance we knew about a few days walk south of Jallabard.
On the road, we encountered a party of 8 soldiers who were transporting 4 prisoners. Whipp interrogated them, and learned that they were magic users being transported to North Barston.
We were interrupted here, but Gulden and several others did not like the idea of allowing other magic users to be taken to Barson.
To be continued...
Party Experience Before Session: 14,424XP
Experience Earned:
Party Experience After Session: 15,324XP
Needed For Level 4: 6 * 2,700XP = 16,200XP
We decided to have the party level to 4 even though they weren't quite there (also adding the long rest described above).
Note: Gulden is already level 5 because he needs to be for his profession. He won't gain experience until the rest of the party catches up with him.
