After their rest, the party pushed forward farther into Barston. As they headed out, they were now about 1 day past the sounds of rushing water that likely indicated the river between Barston and Ikhil.
The party traveled the entire day without incident, then slept and rested safely overnight, thanks to Gulden casting Tiny Hut as a ritual.
The party again traveled all day without incident and slept safely at night.
The group traveled part of the day when they came upon a large side room off the main tunnel. About 15' wide, the room was very large and very dark, having no fungus to provide light. Morro sneaked forward to look, but could see nothing without darkvision, so Enna also gave it a look. She soon saw 3 large worm-like creatures, who also saw her and began moving toward her aggressively.
Enna wild shaped into a giant poisonous snake and was undamaged when the first worm attacked. Whipp and Enna each charged in, followed by the rest of the group. Despite some superficial damage, the party members were mostly unhurt and unpoisoned. Having felt some of the poison from the monsters' bites, Whipp convinced Morro to try to extract some; he failed and was paralyzed for several minutes. Seeing that he was still breathing, Orla also attempted to extract some, succeeding twice and gaining 2 doses of carrion crawler mucus: bonus action to apply to weapon, lasts 1 minute, DC 13 CON save or paralyzed 1 minute, remake save at end of each turn.
Whipp and Orla dug through a large pile of bones, finding 60 gold pieces, a potion of poison resistance, a spell scroll of Continual Flame, and Goggles of Night. Orla kept the scroll, while Kestyn took the potion and Morro took the Goggles.
The group traveled the rest of the day, sleeping and having a short rest at night.
The group again traveled uneventfully.
Halfway through Saturday, the group came upon a large locked and unopenable metal door.
Dwarven script in a coded language eventually gave way to deciphering, with the phrase "Heliosynth" causing the door to open and reveal a large room with 2 additional doors and a stairway leading up.
Kestyn and Morro moved up the stairs looking unsuccessfuly for traps, and narrowly avoided a large boulder that fell from the ceiling. The group followed them up, exiting the cave after many days underground, and finding themselves on the border between Barston and Muftigowen. The other doors seemingly led to the north and west, possibly to other regions?
Morro was hesitant to return to Muftigowen, so the group rest and slept overnight while deciding what to do. That evening, Morro told the group how he had been banished from the thieves' guild in Muftigowen, and that he would need to be disguised if he went back. Orla expressed little respect for most of the citizens of her homeland, but the group thought it might still be a useful place to find more information (and possibly allies?).
