We decided to head in the direction of Muftigowen, which is the area where Orla is from (Garmil). Governance of Muftigowen is done on a per-Guild basis.
Morro has been disguised to hopefully avoid being noticed by the thieves guild. Gulden gave him a disguise kit and is aliased under the name of Orrom Beigboddum. Morro found a small goat for food which yielded two extra days of rations. Enna (with a tiny bit of Kiiv's assistance) found a reasonable path for us to navigate down the narrow pass. Kestyn and Enna use their animal handling skills to aid the oxen down the pass. We easily make it down the mountain with the cart and the party intact.
We decide to follow north along the mountains towards Garmil. We trek in the morning without problem then encounter another party in the afternoon heading towards us. A man approached us and asked what we were doing. He was on his way to Barston to deliver weapons in exchange for food -- this was one of many trips, each lasting ten days round-trip. Still under famine conditions, he felt no moral remorse for providing arms to the Barston army.
We continue our movement to the city and come across an inn that Orla stayed at previously. She recalled it being a nice inn and suggested we stay the night. The party agreed. We each spend one silver to stay for the evening. For normal-sized individuals, they put three beds next to each other and required two people to share. Orla and Morro's sleeping arrangement was superior.
Dinner was provided -- poultry, bread, and asparagus. It was tasty and filling. During dinner we discovered that two other parties have checked into the inn. Both were parties of gnomes/halflings.
We sleep well through the night to awake to a message that it likely will be raining and that we can't really make movement without a boat. We stay in the inn the entire day. Whipp wins a game of chess and we eat well.
The next morning results in similar weather behavior. Gulden talked to one of the other parties and learned that the Barston army isn't letting them into the city of Barston anymore.
Finally the rain has stopped and we can continue the journey to the city. We travel for the day and come up to an inn called Stolls Inn. We are re-affirmed that Barston is essentially blocked off from anyone who isn't a member of the army. Whipp and Kiiv arm wrestle for the only full bed.
We wake up to a sunny day. We travel for the day and upon the evening we see the roaming plateau of Garmil. It's far larger than what we have previously seen. Orla leads us to Somin's Inn (where it's now twice as expensive). Kestyn explores a bit to discover what's near. Kiiv volunteers to sleep in makeshift beds rather than the three available full-sized beds.
We get up and explore. We go to the mage's guild and talk to the PR flack, who just so happens to be one of Orla's uncles, Gorfinkal. Orla tells him about the Barston-Ikhil war and specifically Barston kidnapping magic users in occupied Ikhil. We provide stolen documents proving this. He asks us to return tomorrow after he has had time to consult with other guild leaders.
Before we leave he is willing to inspect the beans for a massive family discount! He says the following:
We were told that we cannot plant one in the city (they take one minute after planting + watering to do "something")
We arrive at Orla's (other) uncle -- Matchull's place so we could potentially plant a magic bean. We walk out in the distance and plant the bean + water. One minute later a massive 60-foot pyramid erupts out from the ground.
