(continued from Session 031)
Almost as soon as the group removed the lid to the sarcophagus, two horrible piles of rags stood up and attacked. Clearly undead, the group struggled to fight them off.
Through some sort of inhuman babbling, the Allips continually stunned members of the party. Fortunately, they were relatively weak physically, and eventually the group was able to surround them and take them down, with Whipp killing one and Kiiv killing the other.
Rooting around in the now empty sarcophagus, Orla found some expensive looking tapestries, and Gulden found a button that he immediately pushed. It opened up stairs going down to the so far unexplored fourth floor.
Morro stealthily explored the lower room and saw a sarcophagus and a sort of plinth filled with liquid. Eventually, the rest of the group followed. Morro smelled the liquid, which smelled like death and decay.
Whipp wanted to test the liquid, so Kestyn offered a rope and a quarterstaff. Whipp built a makeshift plumb, which they then lowered into the water. It went down nearly the entire length of the 50-foot rope before finally settling.
Whipp pulled it back up all the way out to the floor above, because they didn't want to touch the wet part. Just as Whipp finished laying it down on the floor, something threw off the lid to the sarcophagus below. A horrible reanimated mummy lord stood up, shuffled over to Orla, and punched her right in the chest, knocking her down as she slowly faded toward death.
The mummy glared at Gulden, paralyzing him, and both Kiiv and Kestyn were stunned. Morro fired multiple arrows into the mummy, without effect, until he started using fire arrows, which were especially effective.
Party members continued to be stunned and paralyzed until several were close to death. Kestyn considered dragging the dying Orla up to the next floor, but chose to use a healer's kit to stabilize her instead, hoping the mummy would ignore her.
Gulden shook off the paralysis and gave a potion of fire breath to Kestyn, who used it to shoot globs of fire at the mummy lord. As the mummy lord became weaker, it eventually summoned two more mummies. Whipp and Morro did lots of damage, though Kiiv scored the killing blow. The group was able to avoid being stunned by the regular mummies, and eventually all undead in the area were killed.
Whipp found themselves unable to receive magical healing and feeling quite unwell. Examining the mummy lord, Whipp noticed that it had no organs, as if they had been carefully removed, which was not the case for the regular mummies. Sensing that finding them was important, Whipp urged the group to explore the awful liquid again. The mummy lord had been wearing two rings and an amulet, and the party decided to rest and examine them in case they might be useful in exploring the strange liquid. They found, however, that they were a Ring of Arcane Luck, a Ring of the Prodigy, and an Amulet of Natural Vitality. All sounded generally useful, but none for this task.
Enna drank a potion of poison resistance that Kestyn had been saving for weeks and wild shaped into a reef shark. She swam down all the way to the bottom, resisting the poison of the liquid, until she found a bottle. Grasping it carefully in her mouth, she brought it back up.
Kestyn helped pull her out of the liquid and felt the poison where he touched her wet shark skin. Opening the bottle, the group poured out several internal organs, including a heart. Orla used a fireball to burn them all to ash, and the party members who had previously been cursed due to carrying treasure out of the pyramid felt the weight lift from their bodies. Whipp's Mummy Rot, unfortunately, remained.
Before leaving the pyramid, the group covered the liquid with the sarcophagus lid. They warned Matchull not to go up to that level and definitely not to let any tourists go there. He asked for a "property owner's fee," so the group gave him one of the expensive tapestries. They still had 4 tapestries and a series of gems to get appraised and potentially sell.
Orla sketched the tapestry before giving it up, in case its image were somehow useful or important later. Exhausted, the party decided to take a long rest.
Whipp was dismayed to find that not only had they again not healed during the rest, but instead felt even weaker.
Neither Glorfinkel nor Matchull had ideas about how to heal them, though Glorfinkel suggested a healer at one of the temples.
Respectfully submitted,
Kestyn
Party Experience Before Session: 148,870XP

Party Experience After Session: 185,870XP
The party reached level 7!
Needed For Level 8: 7 * 34,000XP = 238,000XP
During the next session you will be able to get your tapestries and gems appraised to be worth 31,750gp. You expect to need to spend about 100gp to have Whipp's curse removed. So there's a lot of cash that can be spent. You can generally assume that you can find +1 weapons (+1000gp) and armor (+1,500gp) of common types, as well as common potions and scrolls. If there is anything else you might like to purchase let me know and I'll roll to see if it can be found.
Kiiv has volunteered to take minutes next time.
